HT 2025 – Call for Tutorials

The 36th ACM Hypertext Conference invites proposals for tutorials from active researchers and experienced tutors in academia, industry, and government agencies. Tutorials should cover state-of-the-art research and ideas, innovative developments, and novel applications in a specific aspect of hypertext and social media. Still, proposals are especially encouraged on emerging topics related to the main conference themes.

Please send us the following information:

  • Title of the tutorial
  • Keywords (describing the main themes of the tutorial)
  • Abstract
  • Description of the tutorial (topics and goals)
  • Presenters’ biographies (1–2 paragraphs per presenter)
  • Confirmation that the tutorial will be complete in half a day (3 hours)
  • Expected background and prerequisite of the audience
  • Relevance of the tutorial to the ACM Hypertext communities
  • A list of references/resources to be covered in the tutorial
  • Previous editions of the tutorial, if presenters have given similar tutorials elsewhere
  • The accepted proposal presenters should provide comprehensive tutorial notes or slides to the tutorial audience free of charge.

Accepted tutorials will have two-pages to be included in the ACM Adjunct Proceedings to the HT’25 conference. We welcome early submissions or discussions with our tutorial chairs.

Submissions should be e-mailed to the track chairs (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. & This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and include the information specified above.

Important Dates (AoE Time)
April 18, 2025 – Deadline for tutorial proposals
April 23, 2025 – Notification of tutorial acceptance

For submission guidelines and more information, please refer to the official website of the conference: https://ht.acm.org/ht2025/call-for-tutorials/.

HT 2025 – Call for Late Breaking and Blue Skies

Late Breaking & Blue Skies – Call for Papers

The late breaking and blue skies track welcomes submissions of original and unpublished work that is at an early stage, and/or ideas that do not fit the profile of a traditional Hypertext conference paper. For the topics of interest, please refer to the scopes in the track of research papers. All submissions must be written in English. Papers should be submitted electronically, in a PDF format, through the EasyChair submission system, https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ht25.

Track Chairs: Prof. David Millard (University of Southampton) and Dr. Ben Steichen (California State Polytechnic University, Pomona)

Important Dates (AoE Time)
June 6, 2025 – Paper submission
July 4, 2025 – Notification of paper acceptance
July 18, 2025 – Camera-ready submission

Late Breaking

We encourage researchers and practitioners to use this track as a valuable opportunity to receive useful feedback on early-stage work and foster discussions and collaborations among colleagues. We look forward to receiving:
- Innovative research plans and preliminary results;
- Descriptions and/or evaluations of system prototypes addressing the theory and practice of topics relevant to the hypertext community;
- Essays introducing recently started research projects or summarising project results.

Format
Submissions must be anonymous, given that ACM HT uses a double-blind review process. Late breaking submissions should follow the same ACM double-column format as the main research tracks, but papers should be up to 4 pages with 1 additional page for references. Submissions will be reviewed and based on those reviews may be accepted as either talks or posters. Papers will be archived in the ACM Digital Library.

Blue Skies

We also invite submissions to a special “Blue Sky Ideas” track. The emphasis of this track will be on visionary ideas, long term challenges, and opportunities in research that are outside the current mainstream topics of the field. We want to overcome the constraints of the traditional review process by incubating innovative approaches, risky and provocative ideas, and propose challenges and opportunities in the near future. We are particularly excited about ideas that address the conference theme of “The World as Hypertext.”

Submissions will be judged on the extent to which they expand the possibilities and horizons of the field or challenge existing assumptions prevalent in the field.

Format
Submissions must be anonymous, given that ACM HT uses a double-blind review process. Submissions to this track should follow the same ACM double-column format as submissions to the main research tracks, but are limited to 4 pages with 1 additional page for references. Submissions will be reviewed by a dedicated panel of senior researchers, and based on these reviews may be accepted as talks at the conference. Papers will be archived in the ACM Digital Library.

HT 2025 – 2nd INTR/HT Summer School

The INTR/HT (International Teaching and Research in Hypertext) is sponsored and supported by the ACM Hypertext Conference and ACM SIGWEB. The in-person Summer School will be held from September 13–14, 2025, followed by participation in the HT’25 Hypertext Conference from September 15–19, 2025.

Call for Participation

Are you a graduate student and enthusiastic about hypertext research and technology? Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in the INTR/HT Summer School at the prestigious 2025 ACM Hypertext Conference!

The INTR/HT Summer School is an intensive study of hypertext theory and practice funded by SIGWEB for master’s and PhD level students, with the goal of educating the next generation hypertext researchers. It takes place online during the summer and culminates as in-person study over the two-day period leading into the ACM Hypertext ’25 Conference in Chicago, USA.

Instruction is held seminar-style and taught by leading hypertext researchers. Topics include the hypertext field and community, research methodologies, research practices and opportunities, publications and the ACM style guidelines, and ethics and professional conduct. Students will also gain insights about the ACM Hypertext Conference structure, SIGWEB, and ACM. At the end of the program, students will have gained a greater understanding of the field, built expertise as a hypertext researcher, developed a network of colleagues, and become better prepared to participate in future ACM conferences.

Funding
Up to fifteen students selected for the first cohort of the INTR/HT Summer School will receive up to $1,000 each in funding for travel expenses.
Accommodation will be provided free of charge in university dorms. Students who wish to stay elsewhere will be responsible for covering their own costs.
Students will also receive free registration for both the HT’25 workshops and the main conference.
