Joint Conference on Digital Libraries

Since 2001, the ACM/IEEE-CS Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL) has served as a major international forum for research and practice in digital libraries and their technical, practical, and social dimensions. The conference brings together participants from around the world and across the disciplines and professions that contribute to digital library research and development.

JCDL takes a broad view of digital libraries, encompassing new forms of information institutions; operational information systems supporting diverse forms of digital content; methods for selecting, collecting, organizing, preserving, and distributing digital information; and theoretical models of information media, document genres, and electronic publishing. Digital libraries may be understood both as new forms of information institutions and as extensions of the services traditionally provided by libraries and other cultural heritage organizations.

The JCDL community spans fields including computer science, information science, librarianship, archival science, museum studies, technology, medicine, the social sciences, and the humanities, fostering exchange between researchers and practitioners from a wide range of perspectives.
