Conference on Human-AI Complementarity and Alignment

ACM HCOMP is the premier venue for research on human-AI complementarity and alignment. It brings together researchers and practitioners who study and design systems that combine the complementary strengths of human and artificial intelligence to achieve outcomes that neither could achieve alone, with an emphasis on ethical, safe, and intentional approaches.

Building on its foundations in human computation and crowdsourcing, HCOMP has broadened its scope as AI systems have become increasingly capable. The conference examines human-AI collaboration across the full lifecycle of AI systems, from their design and evaluation to their use and governance in practice. Topics include how responsibilities are divided between people and AI systems, how their collaboration evolves over time, and how alignment can be achieved and maintained in real-world settings. Beginning in 2026, ACM HCOMP is jointly sponsored by ACM SIGWEB and ACM SIGCHI.
