The ACM Web Conference Steering Committee invites academic and research institutions to submit an initial Expression of Interest (EOI) to host the annual ACM Web Conference 2029. EOI from the Asian region are more than welcome even though this call is globally open.

Requirements for the Expression of Interest (EOI)

To streamline the preliminary bidding phase, the Committee has simplified the process to emphasize the core vision and the strength of the leadership team. Detailed venue contracts or comprehensive budgets are not required at this stage. The EOI (4‑6 pages) should include the following components:

Host City and Venue

Provide a concise description of the proposed location, including accessibility via international air travel, the local web research and innovation ecosystem (public and private), the range of accommodation options, and the suitability of the potential venue (e.g., convention center, hotel, or university campus). The proposed venue must be capable of hosting 800–1,200 participants and must offer high‑quality internet connectivity and accessible infrastructure.

Proposed Leadership

Identify the General Chairs. At least one lead chair must be affiliated with a not‑for‑profit academic or research institution, hold a valid ACM membership, and have prior experience with the Web Conference series as well as other major ACM events.

Institutional Support

Include preliminary indications of support from your home institution and potential collaborations with local industry or government stakeholders.

Eligibility and Commitment

The hosting organization must be a non-profit academic or research entity. Organizers must commit to:

  • adhering to the Steering Committee’s best practices and deadlines, and
  • operating within the ACM SIGWeb financial and governance framework.

Timeline

  • EOI Deadline: 2026 June 1st
  • Shortlist Notification: July 2026
  • Full Proposal: January 2027
  • Defense before the committee during the 2027 edition in Dublin May 10–14.
