Picture of The Manchester Museum

Hypertext 2007 will be held at the Manchester Museum. The Museum enjoys partnerships with academic departments in The University of Manchester and boasts collections that number almost 6 million specimens and objects. These collections are divided between the Humanities (Anthropology, Archaeology, Archery, Egyptology and Numismatics) and the Natural Sciences (Botany, Mineralogy, Palaeontology, Petrology and Zoology which includes Entomology). Like most museums it is only able to display a tiny percentage of its collection, the remainder is kept in store for use in research, temporary exhibitions and other public programmes. The museum also has a small research collection of live animals (mainly frogs and lizards), many of which can be seen in the Vivarium.
