Manchester is a major city within Greater Manchester in North West England. The City of Manchester has a population of 441,200. It lies at the centre of a large connurbation with the wider Greater Manchester Area being home to 2,240,230 people, making it England's third largest conurbation after those of Greater London and the West Midlands. Heralded as the Capital of the North, Manchester today is a centre of the arts, the media, higher education, sport and commerce, and is considered by many of its citizens to be the England's second city. Manchester also has a repuation for being an up and coming European and World City.
