Hypertext 2007
Hypertext, The Web, and Beyond: Five Autonomous Programmes, One Unified Conference.
Manchester, UK 10th - 12th September 2007
Hypertext 2007 has now finished. The conference has been a successful three days of interesting presentations and lively discussions from all those who attended. This year saw a major increase in submissions on 2006, over both full technical papers and posters and demonstrations. With submissions from over thirty countries across four continents, the submission topics were significantly broad. Yet, with an acceptance rate of 35%, the quality of the conference remained high.
There are many people that have made Hypertext 2007 possible. Thanks to the conference committee and programme committees of the five autonomous programmes, Hypertext Reading Room, Poster Sessions, Student Research Competition and Birds of a Feather Meetings for their efforts. Acknowledgements should also be given to the Hypertext 2007 sponsors and supporters, in particular SIGWEB and the ACM, who have made the conference possible. Finally many thanks to the keynote speaker Carole Goble; after dinner speaker Wendy Hall and closing plenary speaker Theodor Holm Nelson for giving insightful and entertaining talks which demonstrated that the Web is returning back to its Hypertext roots and that the field of Hypertext is as vibrant and important today as it was when the first workshop was held twenty years ago.
