Attending the conference
About the conference
Calls for Participation
HyperText'04 is looking for student volunteers to help with the conference! In addition to the substantially reduced conference attendance fees and receiving a copy of the conference proceedings, student volunteers will meet other students from around the world and have the chance to network with conference attendees at the various social events being planned throughout the week. This is a great opportunity to form relationships with others in the HyperText community who may very well become colleagues or research collaborators in the future.
If you are enrolled in a relevant university degree program and are interested in helping to make HyperText'04 a success, please send a brief email (please, no attachments or markup) to the student volunteer chair, Elias Sinderson (firstname.lastname@example.org), with the following subject line: HT'04 application for <your full name>. This email must include:
In addition, for your application to be considered, the above mentioned faculty member must send an email (again, no attachments or markup) to the student volunteer chair from their university email account with the following subject line: HT'04 recommendation for <full student name>. This email should at minimum verify the following:
If accepted as a student volunteer, you may expect to work approximately 20 hours during the week of 8-14 August, 2004. After the student volunteers have been selected, a timetable will be provided for you to suggest your preferred work schedule. All attempts will be made to allow student volunteers to work their preferred schedule and attend the sessions they would like, however we can make no promises regarding this due to possible scheduling needs.
Unfortunately, reduced rates for the conference housing accommodations are not possible. However, the student volunteer chair can assist you in locating other accommodations that may better fit your budget, as there are several youth hostels in the area, as well as lower cost hotels. If you think you might be interested in exploring these alternatives, please include this in your initial application email and indicate whether you would be willing to share accommodations with another student volunteer. Summer is typically a busy tourist season for Santa Cruz, so these arrangements should be made as early as possible.
Thanks for your interest and we hope to see you at HyperText'04!
