Instructor information

Steven J. DeRose is Adjunct Associate Professor, and Chief Scientist at Brown University's Scholarly Technology Group. He worked on several hypermedia systems, starting with FRESS at Brown University from 1979-1982. In 1989 he co-founded Electronic Book Technologies and designed DynaText, DynaWeb, and other products. He is active in standards including SGML, HyTime, DSSSL, the Text Encoding Initiative, and OEB. He is a charter member of the XML Working Group and co-editor of XLink. He has written two books: Making Hypermedia Work: A User's Guide to HyTime (with David Durand), and The SGML FAQ Book. (Info on David Durand forthcoming)
