The Center for Knowledge
Technology (CKT) was founded in January 2004 to bring together
researchers from a number of different areas. We've drawn together
research staff from both the sciences and the humanities to look at
the issues surrounding the various technologies, people and
organizations employ to help manage knowledge resources.
We focus especially on how to contextualize knowledge to
fit the needs of specific users at specific times performing specific
tasks. We feel that managing the repurposing of
knowledge is a key challenge. We synthesize results from hypermedia,
information retrieval, terminology, and eLearning to move towards a
more flexible and personalizable knowledge environment.
The CKT currently consists of over 20 researchers, with several more to
be added over the next 6-9 months. The CKT manages a number of
projects funded from government, industry, and academia.
