Mission Statement

SIGWEB supports the multi-disciplinary field of hypertext and hypermedia, facilitating its application both on the World-Wide Web and also in independent, distributed and stand-alone environments. It provides a forum for the promotion, dissemination, and exchange of ideas concerning research and applications among scientists, systems designers and end-users.
Formerly known as SIGLINK, the ACM Special Interest Group on Hypertext, Hypermedia and Web addresses the concerns of the multi-disciplinary field of hypertext and hypermedia. It provides a forum for the promotion, dissemination, and exchange of ideas concerning research technologies and applications among scientists, systems, designers, and end users.

Activities Statement

SIGWEB promotes and participates in the following activities:
  • Promoting and providing facilities for exchange of information in the field of hypertext, hypermedia and the Web
  • Sponsoring conferences, symposia, and workshops
  • Delivering Awards
  • Organizing sessions at conferences
  • Fostering cooperation with other ACM SIGs and other organizations concerned with hypermedia
  • Organizing education, research and development opportunities
